WWF Royal Rumble on the Sega Genesis is a wrestling game featuring World Wrestling Federation performers, presented with digitized sprites of the real competitors. Matches are fought from a side-on view using strikes, grapples, irish whips, turnbuckle attacks and pinfalls, with each wrestler having his own finishing move to attempt once his opponent has been worn down. Alongside singles and tag team matches, the game includes the Royal Rumble match of the title, in which wrestlers enter the ring at intervals and are eliminated by being thrown over the top rope until one man remains. Other multi-man formats and a survivor-style elimination match are also available. Two players can compete against each other or team up against the computer.
